James O’Donnell

Senior partner James O’Donnell earned his undergraduate degree, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, from San Diego State University in 1981. He then graduated from the University of California’s Hastings College of Law in San Francisco in 1985. James worked as an extern in 1985 for the Honorable Robert Schnacke of the United States District Court of the Northern District. James went on to practice as a trial lawyer with a prominent insurance defense law firm in San Francisco. After subsequently moving as a trial lawyer to one of the top plaintiff’s personal injury law firms in 1988, James co-founded O’Donnell & Smith in 1995 to dedicate himself to representing injured individuals in personal injury cases. James is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, American Association for Justice, Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association and is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association. James has an AV Preeminent rating for Legal Ability and Ethical Standards with Martindale-Hubbell. James is admitted to all Courts in the State of California and the United States District Court of the Northern District.

Sara Smith

Senior partner Sara Smith earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard College in 1981, and went on to earn her law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1985. During law school, Sara interned with the Honorable William Norris of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. Sara also served as law clerk to the Honorable William Fones, Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Sara was admitted to the California bar in 1986 and went on to practice as a trial lawyer with prestigious insurance defense and personal injury firms before co-founding O’Donnell & Smith with James O’Donnell in 1995. Sara is admitted to all Courts in the State of California and the United States District Court of the Northern District.

G. Wynn Smith

G. Wynn Smith graduated with a B.A. from Harvard College in 1956, and went on to earn his law degree from Harvard University in 1959. Mr. Smith has had an extensive career as a trial attorney with significant experience with personal injury cases. G. Wynn Smith is admitted to practice in Tennessee, and serves the firm in an Of Counsel role.
